A borderland in terms of tradition, language, and agriculture, it has always been a place of passage and interconnection between peoples. The initial project envisioned the production of just one wine, produced in extremely limited quantities, the fruit of rigorous grape selection and lengthy cellar aging: Pitatza, a corsair wine, a pure Aglianico made from home-grown grapes. Over the years, the number of labels has increased, and by 2022, there will be eight wines produced, based on Aglianico, Fiano, Coda di Volpe, Greco, and Piedirosso.
The grapes have always fermented spontaneously, and minimal amounts of sulfites are added only at bottling. The work is primarily manual, without any special cellar technology. The wines are aged in amphorae, stainless steel, or wood, depending on the vintage and grape variety.
Viticulture is mountainous, with vineyards often located above 650 meters above sea level, resulting in consistently cool summer temperatures and frigid winters. Harvesting continues until November, often after a snowfall. The soils feature multicolored clays, sands rich in marine deposits, good organic matter, and abundant gravel in some areas.
The company practices organic farming (copper, sulfur, clay, plant extracts) and distributes biodynamic preparations (500K and 501) across approximately 2.5 hectares of vineyards and olive groves. It collaborates with other winemakers who supply a portion of their grapes (20%). At Casa Brecceto, along with traditional grape varieties, a little bit of Irpinia is bottled in the healthiest, most enjoyable, and joyful way possible, while simultaneously striving to create value for everyone.
No rose wines at the moment.
