Veritatis Fabricator is the micro-estate that proves the excellence of the Anjou terroir. With 22 ares of Chenin and 44 ares of Cabernet Franc, Xavier Martin offers natural wines of exceptional quality.

Like a goldsmith's work, Xavier Martin carries out all the tasks in the vineyard and the cellar. He learned them on the job, working for over 10 years in the region's leading estates: Terre de l'élu, Domaine Belargus, Domaine de la petite soeur, Les vignes de Babass, Domaine Mosse...
In 2019, he created his own estate. In the winery, on the tufa stone walls, he discovered a 16th-century inscription: VERITATIS FABRICATOR (Maker of Truth). The micro-estate comprises two plots. They are located in the Layon Valley, in the commune of St Lambert du Lattay, on a plateau south of the Chaume hill. They are close to the Pont Barré nature reserve, as well as the Natura 2000 reserve, which gives them
offer great biodiversity.
The terroir is made up of the oldest rocks in Maine-et-Loire. Sedimentary rocks over 580 million years old. Schist, spilites, and white quartz are found there on a clay-loam soil.
In the vineyard, all work is done by hand or with a tractor. The only treatment used is Bordeaux mixture (copper and sulfur), in very small doses. No pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, even organic ones, are used.
At harvest time, the grape bunches are hand-picked at optimal ripeness. Once in the cellar, fermentation occurs naturally with the indigenous yeasts present on the berries. In the winery, the alchemy is entirely natural. The only interventions during vinification are rackings. Nothing is added—no natural or chemical additives, nor sulfites.
The bottling is done manually, only once Xavier Martin considers the wines ready.
Alongside his wine estate, Xavier Martin is a supervisor and trainer for an integration company specializing in viticultural and winemaking work in the Angevin region, thus combining the human element with the vine.
