Christine and Joël Ménard settled in Rablay-sur-Layon in 1982. He is the son of a cooper who switched to winemaking with the advent of tanks in the 1960s. After meeting Christine in 1978, the couple decided to fulfill their long-held dream by taking over Joël's parents' vineyards. In 1989, they established themselves in the locality of L'Espérance and have continued their journey ever since, driven by "a little spark in their hearts that motivates them every day to extract the very essence of their wines."

Because the Ménards are among those winemakers who dare and take risks. They converted very early – in 1996 – to organic farming, then to biodynamic practices. They make it a point of honor to refuse any chaptalization (addition of sugar) or any oenological manipulation. Today, all their wines are labeled Vin de France. An act of dedication to continue making wines as they see fit, as true to the terroir as possible. Alongside these choices, there is also a solid dose of common sense, as well as encounters with wonderful people who have taught them to transcend conventional practices.

Today their son Jérémy is joining them…the future is secure!!
