Domaine Riberach

Our 12 ha vineyard is located in Bélesta (Roussillon), with its diversity of soils (granites, schists, gneiss and limestone) and grape varieties. The vines have been worked organically since 2006. The range is available in reds, whites, rosés and oranges. The whole is produced in a spirit of minimal intervention to obtain digestible wines, respecting the grapes (morning harvest, native flora, gentle pressing/extraction, gravity work), for a pure expression of the terroir. To complete the explanation a little, we are legally a trading structure but our only contributor is our partner Jean-Michel (who worked in his own name with his partner then in the form of GAEC - GAEC du Pic Aubeil - with his son-in-law) . This is the case for all cuvées; unlike a traditional trade, we do not change plots in an inconsequent way but only according to uprooting / plantations discussed between partners; but above all we don't pay our partner per kilo of grapes produced but per hectare worked (as a result, we also assume the costs of the (too) small harvests...). To complicate things a bit, I (Guilhem) have my own project: PROLEGO, which I am carrying out through RIBERACH by buying grapes from Jean-Michel and vinifying them in the same cellar. This gives rise to 2 cuvées: Prolégomènes en Blanc; Peroration in Red. Since 2011, beyond organic certification, we have been committed to Nature & Progrès. We left the mention on 31/12/2021, for lack of a real dynamic - at the local level, we were the only winegrowers, following the departures / cessations of activity of 3 others. We are in the process of questioning about a possible evolution towards a biodynamic label or a group of winegrowers such as VIN NATUR).
