Bruno Duchêne

Originally from Loir-et-Cher, Bruno Duchêne acquired small plots of vines in 2002 on the steep slopes overlooking Banyuls, at an altitude of 300 meters.

In this harsh environment, where the arduousness of the work is anything but an abstract concept, Bruno Duchêne toils tirelessly to maintain most of his vineyard using organic farming methods, some plots of which are meticulously tended like small gardens. Admiring the work of Alain Castex (Le Casot de Mailloles), from whom he bought a few acres of vines, Duchêne cultivates his vines with the same philosophy, pulling weeds by hand with a pickaxe. It's backbreaking work! His winemaking choices, likely influenced by his Burgundian roots and experience, result in Collioure wines that stand in stark contrast to what is generally offered in the region. He has practiced organic farming (Ecocert certified) from the outset, as well as natural winemaking.
