In France, it occupies 3% of agricultural land and consumes 20% of pesticide tonnage. Despite this, it is still affected by disease every year. In organic farming, the use of heavy metals (copper and sulfur) to combat diseases is far from satisfactory for the environment, human health, and the taste of the wine.
Since the 19th century, the phylloxera aphid and the fungi of downy mildew, powdery mildew, and black rot have devastated European grapevines. Other Vitaceae (in the Americas or Asia) are resistant: Vitis rupestris, Vitis riparia, Vitis labrusca, Vitis rotundifolia, Vitis amurensis... By crossing these with our European grapevines, hybrid vines are born, naturally resistant, producing fruit with wonderful flavors.
I deliberately chose to nurture a thriving vine, one that doesn't suffer, is disease-resistant, and requires no treatment. The pristine soils of the Creuse region allow for this... I deliberately want healthy, vibrant, and exciting wines that bring joy without driving you crazy, wines that are unconventional and surprising!
My grape juices work naturally, protected by the CO2 from fermentation and controlled temperatures, without added sulfites. This dozen grape varieties offers multiple and exciting winemaking possibilities: overripe harvests to preserve acidity, skin maceration, drying on the vine, short macerations or high extractions, etc. I wish you as much pleasure in the glass as I get in the vineyard!
