My name is Florian Spannagel and I am based in à Kientzheim (Haut-Rhin) in Alsace.

In 2017, I took over my grandfather's small farm which was a small business. originally operated 1.30 hectares of vines. I am the 4th generation and I have been working in the industry since I was very young. I know and feel the energies of each place. Today I operate 3 hectares of organically labeled vines on very beautiful terroirs around the village, mainly on granite soils (Grand cru Schlossberg) and clay-limestone soils (Lieu dit Altenbourg - Grand Cru Furstentum).

I am alone on the farm and I work everything at hand. the hand. The soils are worked from the beginning to the end. 80% to the horse. Only two visits per year. Light and superficial work which allows me to obtain a very good balance today. the vine, good vitality of the plant and above all, a beautiful biodiversity. which has developed for 7 years now.

I use herbal teas a lot for phyto treatments, which has allowed me to drastically reduce the doses of copper and sulfur. I have an approach with biodynamics but not claimed. I decide to act according to what I see and what I feel. The harvest is obviously carried out manually in crates with a loyal team since 2017!!

My goal is to have a minimalist approach to the vineyard, but targeted and thoughtful with always the objective of having living and balanced soils.
At the level of vinification, all wines ferment using native yeasts, for more or less time depending on the vintage. Long pressing, settling or not then intoning. All wines are aged in barrels on total lees for a minimum of 13 months. No filtration on the wines. Bottling after the harvest. No other inputs than sulphites.

My objective: to have the same approach in the cellar as in the vineyard. know, listen and look at my environment and adapt to it. the situation. I want to make free wines that are as fair as possible, gastronomic, energetic and reflect my places, my terroirs and my philosophy as much as possible.

I therefore do not refrain from adding a little sulphites if the wine requires it in order to have the accuracy sought. A story of feeling and adaptation. It depends on the vintages and the vintage. I just want to preserve this vibration that I love so much and that I am looking for. the vine as in a bottle.
