Although the Robert family's winemaking history dates back to the 1820s, it was Léon Robert who, in the 1950s, was the first to go beyond the production of still wine and launch into the vinification and production of his own Champagne vintages.

His son Georges will perpetuate the know-how and traditions until 1990. The next generation, Olivier will focus on viticulture, until the arrival in the family business in 2019 of Clément, great-grandson of Léon, determined to take up the torch and relaunch winemaking. By naming his estate "Léon", Clément Robert pays tribute to his great-grandfather.
The ambition to produce unique wines, reflections of their terroir
After some wanderings and experiences in vineyards both French and foreign (Champagne Fleury, United States, Australia and New Zealand), Clément Robert has a very precise idea of what he wants to do: to go all the way, to extend the work carried out in the vineyard by vinifying and marketing his own wines. It is with this in mind that he created Domaine Léon.
The estate covers nearly 8 hectares, spread around the village of Landreville, in the Aube. It produces four Champagne grape varieties: the traditional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, as well as Pinot Blanc, a historic grape variety from Landreville. From the vineyard to bottling, particular care is taken at each stage of the production process. No service provider intervenes on the estate, all the work is carried out by the estate team from pruning to dressing.
In the vineyards: light soil work, spontaneous grassing throughout the year, use of herbal infusions in addition to organic treatments... Since 2019, Clément has gradually converted the estate's vineyard to organic and has launched into biodynamics, convinced of the importance of changing cultivation practices. The estate was certified organic viticulture in 2022 and Demeter in 2024. In the cellar, in order to let the terroir express itself as naturally as possible, we find the same spirit: limited inputs, fermentation by indigenous yeasts.... The estate has also chosen to vinify and age its production in wood, a living material offering wines with a unique character.
