Having discovered the world of wine in 2010, the date of our first harvest at Hervé Villemade in Cheverny, it is here that our passion for natural wine began.
We both followed different paths: a bistro on the island of Groix and parkabout installations for Sébastien, and a job as a youth leader for Corentin. Our passion for wine eventually caught up with us, and we decided to pursue a viticulture and oenology diploma at the agricultural college in Amboise.
We have gained experience in several fields: Domaine Léonine (66), Jeff Coutelou (34), Julien Pineau (41), Noëlla Morantin (41), Vincent Carème (37), Thierry Puzelat (41), Hervé Villemade (41), and Laurent Saillard (41). All of this is aimed at continuing our training and making a living from this profession.
After these experiences, many discussions, and the realization of a shared desire, we decided to create Pouce-pied! We found vineyards in January 2023, the winery in June, and harvested our grapes in September. So, we're newly established! The winery is located in Châteauvieux (41400), at the southern tip of the Loir-et-Cher department. We are surrounded by clay and stony soils with limestone subsoil.
We currently cultivate 2 hectares of vines consisting of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and Menupineau. Part of the vineyard is located very close to the winery, and the other part is in St Julien de Chédon, on the highest point of the village.
The goal is to gradually acquire new plots of land around our winery.
We cultivate our vines organically, of course. We make wine together, constantly exchanging ideas and sharing our experiences to craft the wines in a way that draws on the best of our respective expertise. We enjoy using a variety of winemaking methods and containers to add complexity to our wines.
We are committed to making wines naturally, without added yeast, fining, or filtration. We use few, if any, additives. The aim, of course, is to create living wines, wines that are expressive and representative of their terroir. We also strive to maintain a high level of professionalism to present flawless wines. We will remain focused on improving our wines vintage after vintage.
This year we are proud to present our first five vintages made from grapes we grow ourselves, but also from grapes bought on the vine from winegrower friends who share our values.
