The Domaine des Jeunes Pousses is a special wine project, operating as a nursery for young winegrowers.
Every three years, the overall management of the estate is entrusted to a pair of young people eager to undertake a general, hands-on apprenticeship in the winemaking profession. This encompasses various aspects such as business management, financial management, vine cultivation, cellar management, and administrative tasks. After this intensive three-year practical experience, during which they oversee and produce three vintages bearing their names, the pair hands over responsibilities to a new generation, thus perpetuating the cycle.
Today, the second generation of Jeunes Pousses, represented by Juliette LUMEAU and Thaïs LAMY, has taken over the management of the Domaine until 2025, succeeding Hugo Foizel and Angela Quiblier.
Nestled in Emeringes, a small village in the heart of the Beaujolais wine region, Domaine des Jeunes Pousses cultivates 3.3 hectares of organic Gamay. The vineyard is composed of seven small plots with diverse soil compositions, allowing the Gamay grape to convey the distinct characteristics of these terroirs. Concerned about biodiversity, the Domaine aims to maintain a relatively grassy inter-row in these plots, but also employs tillage techniques using discs and blades to reduce competition between the vines and vegetation. Biodynamic practices are also integrated into the viticultural regime.
During vinification, since the wines of the first generation of Jeunes Pousses, spontaneous fermentation has been adopted, with minimal use of additives (often a little before bottling at a rate of 1g/HL of SO2) to ensure an authentic and pure expression of the wines.
