Vins Voctor - Josimar Yacuta Verduzco

Josimar (or Voctor) is a young winemaker located in the Northern Rhône Valley. He began his career in this field by completing a BTSA (Advanced Vocational Diploma) in Viticulture and Oenology in the Jura and Ardèche regions. Following his studies, he took on a position of responsibility with his mentor, a renowned winemaker in Cornas.

A lover of the land and wine, he decided in 2022 to launch Vins Voctor as a side business, alongside his responsibilities as a vineyard worker. Owning neither land nor vines himself, he began as a "wine merchant-winemaker," meaning he buys freshly harvested grapes (picked by hand himself) and vinifies them in his small cellar located in the village of Cornas. Whenever possible, he works exclusively with organically grown grapes. His suppliers cultivate their vines with great respect for the environment: tractor passes throughout the year are quite limited, treatments are organic with doses of copper below the organic farming regulations, and weed control is done mechanically. In 2022, the plots he harvested were located near Montélimar in the Drôme region.

Inspired by the personality and identity emanating from artisanal products, Josimar set out to produce handcrafted wines that combine terroir and individual character. The main characteristics he seeks in his wines are energy, drinkability, finesse, complexity, and length on the palate. In the cellar, he works with various traditional and simple winemaking methods, using small stainless steel containers, demijohns, very little SO2, and no other oenological additives.
