Romaneaux-Destezet

The Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet was created in 1993 by Hervé Souhaut. It was formed over the years by the planting of new vines and successive acquisitions of various parcels often planted old vines (50 to 100 years). The current area of the estate is 5 ha. An ancillary activity of purchases of grapes makes it possible to reach a total annual production of approximately 25,000 bottles. The grape varieties used are of local origin and representative of the Northern Rhône Valley: Viognier and Roussanne for white wines, Syrah and Gamay for red wines. Geologically, the terroir is made of granite (Hercynian pedestal, crystalline) of strong acidity. Sensitized at the beginning of its activity by the necessity of elaborating wines as natural as possible in order to better express the potential of the soil, Hervé Souhaut went towards the production of grapes coming from an agriculture respectful of the environment. But convinced that we should not stop at this stage, he decided, under the impulse of winemakers adepts natural winemaking and helped by his training as a biologist, to produce wines without oenological additives.
