Weingut Markus Altenburger
In our farming there is space for many ideas (Steiner, Fukuoka, Simonit&Sirch) and we have created our own concept which is based on the variation of cover crops and natural greening, herbal teas to enhance our spraying and a lot of manual work (twisting instead of cutting the shoots p.e.). we use soft pruning, harvest by hand and ferment and age without additives. Before the bottling we use between 5 and 20 grams of sulphites, depending on grape and vintage. Although we don’t use modern cellar methods and things some of our wines (mostly the reds) pass the governmental controls and tastings. So don’t be surprised to find wines with the official appellation (Burgenland, Leithaberg, single vineyard names) in our portfolio.
Why? We are proud of the appellation and our old vines and don’t want others to be only ones to use the official names.
