Stella Nova - Philippe Richy
Located in Caux near Pézenas, in the heart of Languedoc, Domaine Stella Nova was born in 2002.
On ten hectares, the vineyard offers a great diversity of terroirs: between the terraces of Villafranchian gravel, the limestone and sandstone slopes of the primary era, the basaltic soils or the white clay-silt lands of the Miocene, we are in the presence of a rare geological richness for the same domain of this size.
The grapes come from organic farming.
We do not use any synthetic chemicals, weeding is done by tillage, without chemical weedkillers. This choice favors the balance of life of the soils and the purity of the fruit.
The wines of Domaine Stella Nova respect the production principles of natural wines.
When conditions allow, certain vintages are vinified, aged and bottled without adding sulphites, in order to find the most natural expression possible of our terroir.
If the Domaine's wines have star names, it is because Philippe RICHY is passionate about astronomy.
It is also to remind that there are strong links between our earth and its cosmic environment.
The cuvées have thus taken the names of stars, clusters of stars, constellations: Sirius, Orion, Les Pleiades, Polaris, Mira Ceti, Cassiopée ...
