9.0 / zero / biodynamic / selectionaturel / $35 / Matteo Furlani is quickly becoming one of my very favorite winemakers. I will pretty much buy any new wine of his i see regardless of varietal, price, etc. Always a delight. This one is one of the pricier ones, but they are all in the same ballpark. Like all his wines, perfectly tight bubbles that leave room to express the taste of the grapes. Joannita, i had never heard of this varietal. What I've read is that it was bred in Germany in the 1960s from some typical northern region whites, this doesn't really speak tooi the characteristics of those, but rather the place. Somewhat similar to the his Alpino, but with just enough tannins to let your tongue know they are there. Ever so slightly puckering. Pithy orange bitterness with floral notes and airy dry hay. Not wet grass like sometimes that smell/flavor can evoke. This is a perfect fall wine despite being a white (slightly orange) sparkler. I don't think i would like this one so much in the summer. Actually, i would drink this whenever. It's lovely. His Alpino is more suited for summer. More Furlani please!!!
