Bodega Frontio - Juan Garcia
Bodega Frontio is about being in love with wine, being thirsty and living out a dream of making wine! In 2016 Thyge quit his day job in Copenhagen and bought vineyards with vines between 10 – 100 years in the very rural of Spain in the area called Arribes, with the aim of establishing his own winery and work on the edge of the frontier in every way… The Arribes has a long tradition of winemaking, but due to old vines and low yield and bad accessibility, many vineyards have been abandoned and traditions lost. But there is a hidden gem in the local grape variety Juan Garcia, which is a non-typical Spanish grape as its very thin-skinned and low in alcohol. The vineyards are worked natural by re-establishing the hummus via cover crops, compost and leaving the manually cut-off branches crushed in the vineyard. The handpicked grapes are processed in a 500 years old granite cave Bodega. Here the grapes go through very hard manual selection and the wines are made with a high amount of whole cluster, no additionals and a minimum to none sulfites.
