This project was born during one of the "Conversations on Wine" held at the College of Agronomy of the Southern Region of the Order of Engineers, which encouraged the producer and his family to restore a vineyard that was once farmed by various religious orders, such as the Order of the Temple, which had been producing wine since the beginning of the Foundation of Portugal, thus preserving a small part of the History and Culture of Portugal. The Jerónimo family and the wine producer, Eng.º Pedro Jerónimo, accompanied by Professor Virgílio Loureiro and Professor José Sobral, are developing the project to restore the "Vinha da Ordem" (Order's Vineyard), located in the village of Valhelhas, in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, in a hidden valley on the left bank of the River Zêzere. The flagship product of this project is Vinho da Ordem, inspired by the matrix of ancient European wines. With natural production processes, this is a unique wine made from centuries-old grape varieties and is ideal for enjoying with family and friends.
