Cantina Martinelli - Francesco Martinelli
Cantina Martinelli winery makes wines only from a single small Cru of Garganega in Caucciolo, between Fittà and Castelcerino, in the central northern area of the Soave Classico, in Veneto, Italy.
We row against the current in an area that has always exploited the land in favor of quantity, we have had the good fortune to have one of the smallest crus, protected and precious by type of soil, exposure, terroir, and we protect it with jealousy and love.
The vineyard is exposed to the east at an altitude of about 300 m.s.l.m., on Balsaltico, volcanic soil and therefore strongly mineral. The plants are rebellious and free as well as being ancient implanted between 1967 and 1982, it has never been watered and since 2015 in the countryside
we adopt strictly organic and biodynamic farming practices that do not involve the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizer products and that avoid the excessive exploitation of natural resources, within a sustainable development model.
The vineyard extends for 1.2 hectares entirely planted with Garganega, around a woodland on an abandoned vineyard, then a basin for healthy and useful biodiversity for development of the vineyard.
The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in spontaneous fermentation, with their own indigenous yeasts.
The intent is to allow these grapes to express themselves in a fresh and drinkable natural wine high acidity, but with all the fruit of the best Garganega in the nose and the strong minerality in mouth, which expresses all the strength of a hillside Garganega, mineral and ancient.
We hope to succeed in allowing this magnificent cru to express itself.
