Today the Tormena family, headed by their son Martino, takes care of 15 hectares, of which 12 are vineyards and 3 are woods and arable land. The company is located in Col San Martino, therefore in the central area of Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore. Col San Martino is a unique historical location, whose steep hills frame a breathtaking landscape, the vines climb following the morphological trend and this requires mostly manual work.
They mainly grow Glera grapes but also old native varieties such as Bianchetta and Verdiso. The cultivation methods are artisanal starting from the reproduction of young plants starting from old vines. There are six different vineyards and they are worked in a specific way to enhance the characteristics present in nature. No herbicides or chemical fertilizers are used in the vineyards. Green manure and compost from biodynamic preparations have been used for years to maintain the fertility of the soil which, rich in conglomerate rock, gives a great flavor to the wines. In the cellar, a precise recipe is not followed for making wine. Every year is different and therefore they rely on intuition to best translate each individual harvest preserving the integrity of the grapes and the character of the place. The fermentations are spontaneous with indigenous yeasts and after spending the winter on the fine lees, the refermentations take place in the spring. The goal is to obtain easy-drinking, genuine wines. Rich in the flavor of the hills from which they come.
