After moving to San Severo, in the Tavoliere delle Puglie, he continued the family business and taught his son, my father, the love for olive trees and vines. As a child I began to prune the olive trees and vines, to harvest their fruit and to make wine from our grapes. Ours was an underground cellar, a type of cellar that was abundant in San Severo in those years. In the 1970s, the advent of cooperatives and the idea that "unity is strength" led me to suspend the transformation activity to dedicate myself mainly to agriculture. In those years, moreover, I first became a professor of Business Economics and then Dean of the commercial high school of San Severo, without ever abandoning my first passion: I concentrated all my physical and economic energies on being able to grow the company, dreaming of starting again, one day, to produce wine and oil like when I was a child.
So in 2010 I started the renovation of an old farmhouse and, since 2013, with the help of my son-in-law, Giovanni, who is also passionate about wine, we have started the transformation of the first grapes, following, both in the countryside and in the cellar, the organic and traditional method. In the vineyard we practice as few phytosanitary interventions as possible, in the cellar spontaneous fermentations, no clarification or filtration, as my father taught me, and as I in turn teach my children.
Today my estate has about fifty hectares of vineyards, mainly of native vines (Bombino and Nero di Troia) and Peranzana olive groves which are transformed, under my strict supervision, in a small local oil mill.
We currently have eight labels in production: Bombino bianco, Bombino macerato (orange wine), Nero di Troia rosato, Nero di Troia rosso, Bombino Ancestrale, Nero di Troia Rosato Ancestrale, Primitivo Ancestrale, Fiano with long maceration on the skins.
The packaging of our bottles tries to respect nature as much as possible: we have chosen a lighter bottle than the others, the labels are made of Marble Fasson, a special paper made with stone powder, which allows, compared to other papers, to save over 65% of paper; the capsule is in polylaminate to avoid the use of PVC plastic; the cartons have no graphics to be 100% recycled.
