Domaine Yoan Rega
The domain
After a first career in music journalism, Yoan Rega returned to settle in his native Gard and succumbed to the call of the land. Grandson of a market gardener, he became aware of organic farming in the late 1990s, which he puts into practice today.
In the vineyard, he shows a constant concern for the preservation and life of the soil. In the cellar he works the grapes in the simplest possible way: very little extraction and a desire to accompany the vinification as naturally as possible. No input, no filtration and no or very little SO2. The estate is certified in Organic Agriculture.
The vines
Fairly old vines. All are at least 30 years old and one plot is even 60! Partly grassed vines.
Winemaking
Natural vinification with predominance of carbonic macerations. The vats are initially plotted, each plot being vinified separately according to its own maturity, health status, etc. Some old barrels are used for the vinification of direct presses or for the aging of certain wines. The goal here is not to mark the wines with wood but rather to give the wines a patina.
Wines
The wines come from complex blends of different vats vinified separately.
