The Château de Piote, an authentic and warm place of 14 hectares, produces natural wines, in the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations with organic and biodynamic work. Located in Val-de-Virvée, 20km north of Bordeaux, our 10 hectares of vines are worked manually. The harvest is entirely manual. The pruning of the vines is carried out using double guyot. We produce 8 different grape varieties, vinify in barrels, cement and stainless steel vats and terracotta and sandstone jars. Our annual production is around 50,000 bottles per year. Our production is 100% natural vinification: no inputs or yeast are added to the wine. The products used to counter illnesses are completely natural: sulphur, copper, herbal teas and homeopathic preparations. We work with respect for our terroir and the environment to offer wines that are healthy and of high quality. Our approach is recognized by awards: Bordeaux Vignoble Committed Trophy by Terre de Vins 2021. In addition to working in the vineyards, Château de Piote aims to create a dynamic model of agriculture. On the farm live sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks and even peacocks. The ultimate goal is to transform the estate into an eco-responsible vineyard, able to live independently. The winemaker, Virginie Aubrion, who took over the estate in 1998, works today with her sons.
