Driven by the desire to take on new challenges, after several personal and professional life experiences, we created the "TARTAGÈNE" adventure because it is south of the Loire, between Lyon and St-Etienne, on 2 hills in the Jarez valley, one in Tartaras, the other in Genilac, that we planted our vines.
On a historically wine-growing land, where wine and coal have mixed for centuries in the throats of miners. Alas, wars, phylloxera and industrialization have made this heritage disappear, which we are trying to revive.
After clearing, new plantations, recovery and rehabilitation of old abandoned plots, we now operate organic farming with soil work adapted to each plot & vintage (none for some grassed with natural flora)
In total 2.5 ha of vines, composed of Gamay, Syrah, Mondeuse noire, Roussanne, Viognier, and also old grape varieties of the region such as Mornen noir, Chouchillon, but also Bia blanc replanted for the first time in 2023 in the valley (and the future will see other plantations).
The wines are vinified without dogmas or artifice, the aim being to ensure that they are, as much as possible, a sincere reflection of the terroir and the vintage each year.
For administrative reasons, we currently have 2 structures, one (GAEC) which cultivates the vines and another (SAS) which vinifies and markets the wines, both certified ORGANIC,
All our wines are therefore sold in trade from our vines with, in the event of a setback in a vintage or a plot, the possibility of purchasing quality grapes from friends that meet our requirements)
