We cultivate our land using a mixed farming system, with vines, lavender, and olive trees, all organically farmed, and since 2021, we have been vinifying some of our own grapes. In the cellar, we work closely with the grapes, using few additives and striving for minimal intervention. We have a tasting room in the village (11 rue Saint-André, 07700 Saint-Rémy-de-Provence). Feel free to stop by to taste our wines and discover our olive oils and lavender essential oil. We also offer bed and breakfast accommodation where we warmly welcome all wine enthusiasts who pass through.
Charlotte, I wasn't exactly destined to run a bed and breakfast in a, shall we say, "remote" corner of the southern Ardèche. Having studied science, I was leaning more towards a career in academic research. But life brought Quentin into my path, and here I am today, delighted and very happy to welcome you to our home. This career change is a way for me to satisfy my need to live close to nature while expressing my passion for decorating and renovating furniture. I warmly welcome our guests to our home, which we have recently renovated ourselves, and offer them delicious homemade breakfasts.
Quentin, on the other hand, is a local boy, a true son of the soil. After gaining experience in various fields, he's returned to his native land to pursue his lifelong passion: taking over the family estate and making his own wine. Together with his older brother Mathieu, the two brothers represent the fourth generation to be involved in the business. They are determined to breathe new life into the Domaine de la Bruge (conversion to organic farming, planting new crops like olive trees, and developing new winemaking techniques in their own cellars).
We bought this building in 2018. It dates back to the 1800s. For us, transforming this historically rich space into a bed and breakfast was a natural choice. We renovated it ourselves starting in 2019, using as many natural materials as possible and respecting the existing features as much as we could: exposed stone and brick, dressed stone door frames, solid wood ceilings, and so on. After three years of intensive work, we opened our first two rooms ("Under the Acacia" and "Courtyard Side") in May 2022. This spring, we are opening two more rooms ("The Land Next Door" and "The Aphyllanthus"). We have several projects in the works for the coming years (creating a lap pool in the old wine vats, renovating the former silkworm farm into a family suite, landscaping the garden, etc.).
The ground floor of the house is reserved for our guests. It comprises a living room with a large sofa and a television, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room, and a large courtyard perfect for relaxing with family or friends. We have furnished these spaces primarily with vintage pieces, which we have updated ourselves. The decor is understated and elegant, while favoring natural materials as much as possible. All of this is designed to offer you a warm and welcoming holiday retreat where you can unwind and enjoy the Ardèche region.
We serve breakfast in the courtyard between 7:30 and 10:00. On the menu: homemade jams, seasonal fruits, handmade pastries, fresh fruit juices, viennoiseries, everything you need to start the day right.
Our house is located in the heart of the village of Saint-Remèze, next to vegetable gardens and the stream. As a result, the area is relatively quiet. All the village amenities are within walking distance: grocery store, bakery, tobacconist, regional products shop, information point, and restaurants. The village of Saint-Remèze is ideally situated, 7 minutes from the famous replica of the Chauvet Cave and 5 minutes from the Ardèche Gorges Nature Reserve. You can thus enjoy the treasures our region has to offer while benefiting from a peaceful environment.
Damselflies (Agrion) belong to a family of winged insects closely related to dragonflies. This species is sensitive to water quality, so its presence indicates an unpolluted habitat and ecosystem. During the first lockdown, as nature slowly reclaimed its space, the Mercury Damselfly was recorded for the first time in the Saint-Remèze stream, just a stone's throw from our house. We chose this name as a nod to this charming discovery, out of ecological conviction, but above all, we must admit, because it's a very pretty name. Our plateau, in addition to being a very promising region, provides a healthy environment, as evidenced by the presence of our friend, the damselfly.
