Weingut Weninger (Austria) / Weninger Pincészet (Hungary)
Franz Weninger’s vineyards are certified biodynamic producing natural wines on two sides of the Burgenland border – both in Austria and Hungary. A third-generation winemaker dissatisfied with the homogenous wines being produced during the ’80s in Hungary and later confirmed while helping with ferments in California. Returning home he embraced the winemaking heritage of his home in Austria’s far-eastern borderland region of Burgenland. His estate boasts an eclectic array of grape varieties but the focus is clearly on Blaufränkisch and the patchwork of ancient soils that make up the estate.
