Podere ai Contadini is based in Ostuni (BR) and is owned by Trinchera Anna Rosa and her husband Nino. Sabrina and Walter are daughter and son-in-law in their fifties or just over started the company in 2021 in the middle of the pandemic to be able to work in agriculture with the main objective of continuing to conduct agricultural practices with a high level of sustainability and low environmental impact as has happened for generations. Podere ai Contadini has a structure consisting of a small cellar and a vineyard area of 0.4ha and an olive grove area of 1ha both in the same company building located in the Vallegna di Ostuni district which is located in the Lower Murgia dei Trulli in the Itria Valley between Cisternino and Ostuni. In the vineyard planted in 1977 in Vallegna, ideas linked to varieties such as Malvasia Nera, Negroamaro, Verdeca, Barbera and Sangiovese were developed, although much attention was paid to the present native varieties such as Impigno, Ottavianello, Francavidda. The latter is the primary project of Podere ai Contadini. The practice is carried out manually including the harvest with preventive organic pesticide treatments for coverage only. In the cellar the fermentations are spontaneous and no oenological products are used except low doses of metabisulphite so we proceed with only decanting and manual bottling practices. As mentioned, the agricultural part is completed with the presence of 1ha of property also in Vallegna planted with olive groves with around 200 olive trees of typical Puglia varieties and related oil production and with a small vegetable garden mainly managed for family needs. It is therefore a small company that has decided to produce grapes, wine, oil and other agri-food products following an authentic logic of belonging to a place, territory, recovering experiences and now abandoned awareness. Podere ai Contadini ha sede ad Ostuni (BR) ed è di proprietà di Trinchera Anna Rosa e del marito Nino.
Sabrina e Walter sono figlia e genero cinquantenni o poco più che hanno
avviato l’azienda nel 2021 in piena pandemia per poter lavorare in agricoltura con il principale obiettivo di continuare a condurre pratiche agricole ad elevato livello di sostenibilità ed a basso impatto ambientale come avvenuto per generazioni.
Podere ai Contadini dispone di una struttura composta da una piccola cantina e da una quantità di superficie a vigneto di 0,4ha e di una superficie ad uliveto di 1ha ambedue nello stesso corpo aziendale sito in contrada Vallegna di Ostuni che si trova nella Bassa Murgia dei Trulli in Valle d’Itria tra Cisternino ed Ostuni.
Nel vigneto impiantato nel 1977 a Vallegna si sviluppano idee legate a varietà come Malvasia Nera, Negroamaro, Verdeca, Barbera e Sangiovese, anche se molta attenzione viene dedicata alle presenti varietà autoctone come Impigno, Ottavianello, Francavidda. Quest’ultimo è il progetto primario di Podere ai Contadini.
La pratica viene svolta manualmente compresa la vendemmia con trattamenti antiparassitari bio preventivi di sola copertura.
In cantina le fermentazioni sono spontanee e non si usano prodotti enologici tranne basse dosi di metabisolfito quindi si procede con soli travasi e pratiche manuali di imbottigliamento.
Come detto la parte agricola si completa con la presenza di 1ha di proprietà sempre a Vallegna impiantata ad uliveto con circa 200 ulivi di varietà tipiche di Puglia e relativa produzione di olio e con un piccolo orto soprattutto gestito per le esigenze familiari.
Si tratta quindi di una piccola Azienda che ha deciso di produrre uva, vino, olio ed altri prodotti agroalimentari seguendo un’autentica logica di
appartenenza ad un luogo territorio, recuperando esperienze e
consapevolezze ormai abbandonate.
