La sede della cantina di Loco Wines è a Cisternino in provincia di Brindisi. Siamo in valle d’Itria, quello splendido lembo di terra che congiunge Bari con Brindisi ed è in questa zona che vive e lavora Vittorio Pugliese, anima e braccia del progetto “Loco Wines”.

Le vigne sono ad un altitudine media di 300 metri slm, i terreni sono prevalenza di argille rosse.

Vittorio scopre il vino naturale nel 2017 ed è stato un fulmine a ciel sereno, si appassiona, incomincia a studiare, partecipa a moltissime fiere in giro per il mondo, assaggia , cerca di capire e da li a breve intuisce di voler far parte di quel mondo che ha iniziato ad amare. “Volevo aprire un locale di vini naturali a Bari, ma poi è arrivato il covid e allora sono tornato all’idea originaria: quella di produrre vino”.

Da lì è iniziata la ricerca di uve e vigneti da salvare dall’abbandono.

Un produttore "esploratore"

“L’idea è stata: meglio fare vini un po’ più magri, essere cauti con le estrazioni (al contrario della tradizione regionale), piuttosto che avere vini seduti e senza acidità, con molto alcol e pesanti.

Per far questo mi sono basato molto sull’assaggio, mi definisco come un esploratore: credo che volta per volta si imparano sempre cose nuove e non avendo uno storico e nessun punto di riferimento in zona assaggiare diventa un passaggio fondamentale, nella valle d’Itria non ci sono produttori di vino naturale. “.
