Domaine of living wines.
We see trees in the middle of vineyards, sheep, loaves of golden bread, the nature of Beaujolais as Terrence Malick would undoubtedly like to film it. These two young Dutch winegrowers were restaurateurs in their own right. Amsterdam and they were already offering à their customers a beautiful list of wines « natures ». “ Through regular visits to France and the region, we fell in love with Beaujolais, with open-minded people and the possibility of exploring the region. "to turn our passion into a profession," explains Sylvie. A desire for a change of scenery, of life, in tune with the times...
Their choice was on this area of Lantignié where almost all of them vines are found around the house. The ideal configuration to recreate this ecosystem they dreamed of. “ We immediately planted around a hundred trees in the middle of the vineyard to develop biodiversity. We want to work with nature, not against it,” adds Sylvie.
A real advocacy which is found in the cultivation of the vine, notably with the picking of plants and herbs around the estate which then serve as a basis for producing grapes. « infusions » sprayed on the vines in a very homeopathic way.
In winter, sheep graze in the vineyards, cleaning the soil while fertilizing it in return. In their 5.5 hectares, Sylvie and Thierry have recovered two hectares of old Gamay vines abandoned for years. Many recommended that they tear them off; they chose to try to save them, « to give them a second chance »…
In the vat room, Sylvie and Thierry will experiment, depending on the vintages, the vintages, but already with some clear ideas: manual harvesting, whole harvest vinification, with native yeasts, without inputs, « to produce living wines ».
No rose wines at the moment.
