The human hand, respectful, accompanies The spontaneous transformation ennobles The long wait, patient, refines PURE EXPRESSION OF LAND THAT WAS SEA SASSOCORNO is an adventure that began in 2017 with the acquisition of old vineyards in places in Friuli Oriental with a high wine vocation with the aim of creating natural, territorial and authentic products respecting the environment and the people who populate it. We are four partners, Stefano, Diego, Francesca and Loretta. We come from different experiences (medicine, engineering, law, social work); agronomic and oenological skills come from one great passion that led to deepen their knowledge. The values of the respective professions they guide the work in an ethical way. Between 2018 and 2021, we planted new vineyards with native varieties on land attached to them suitable for: Istrian Malvasia, Ribolla Gialla, Schioppettino, Refosco, Pignolo. We practice green manure to improve the characteristics of the soil, without fertilizing. We defend the vines only with copper (on average half of what is allowed in organic), sulfur and orange essential oil sweet. We vinify for individual plots, so each bottle shows the position of the vineyard with respect to the company headquarters. The old vineyards are located on the hills of Rosazzo and Rocca Bernarda; the new plants at the company headquarters in Corno di Rosazzo.In the cellar the fermentations take place spontaneously, the macerations have a variable duration according to the type and maturity of the grapes. Refinement takes place in acacia and oak barrels, concrete and amphora. We do not use any oenological additives at any stage of the processing. From the 2019 harvest we have banned even minimal additions of sulfur dioxide. The wines they do not undergo clarification or filtration. We believe in sustainable agriculture, spontaneous winemaking and in the long refinements as means to free the potential of the territory and of those who work it. We believe in "PURE EXPRESSION"
