It is within the commune of Luzech (bordering Parnac), on a ridge of the third terrace of the Lot Valley that Clos Dauliac extends, ideally located in the historic heart of the Cahors appellation. There are no less than nine generations who will succeed one another and work on the development of the property and its transmission. The vineyard stands out as a deeply family estate whose multigenerational aspect is its strength. Holders of traditional know-how, they are no less agents of change. The estate followed the evolution of the appellation, the VDQS in 1951, and the AOC in 1971. In 2010, room was made for renewal, the decision was made to combine production and conviction by initiating the conversion of the vines into Agriculture Organic (certified by Ecocert France). Pierre Baltenweck, representative of the ninth generation of winegrowers, took up the torch in 2017 and opened up new perspectives. It thus ensures family continuity while embodying the spirit of renewal. Restructuring and expansion are required: initially based on an area of 12 hectares, the estate extends and now covers 21 hectares. In 2020, under the leadership of Pierre, the choice was made to practice Biodynamic Agriculture, which demonstrates all the sensitivity and understanding of contemporary agricultural, environmental and health issues. Today, he manages an estate mainly focused on the Malbec grape variety, his vines are managed in compliance with DEMETER specifications and are mostly harvested by hand. The wines also follow this process, they are therefore vinified with indigenous yeasts, human intervention is minimal and so is sulphiting. Pierre's wines are characterized by a freshness and lightness which radically changes from the wines that you could previously find in Cahors. The range now extends to three red wines and one rosé, all 100% Malbec.
