In 1986 Giorgio Ferrero became the owner of the family farm that has been producing wine in Pino d'Asti for four generations, implemented the organic farming method for all its production and began to market its products under the Ca' del Prete brand ( the name derives from the farmhouse where the cellar is located, which was once connected to the ancient rectory above). Since 2014, after the experience gained in the company, Luca Ferrero (Giorgio's nephew) becomes the owner. Luca has implemented new methodologies that go from the vineyard to the cellar. Many of his choices were born from continuous study, from the desire to question himself and from constant comparison with more experienced colleagues. He defines his wines as "handcrafted from organically grown grapes". Artisanal because they are produced without the use (or in any case minimal) of technology, chemical adjuvants and with small additions of preservatives only upon bottling The vineyard area is about 4 hectares mainly cultivated with Freisa, with plots of Malvasia (ancient Schierano vine) and Barbera. Green reigns in the vineyards: the grassing avoids leaching and erosion of the soil and is very useful for having lower temperatures in the summer season, guaranteeing the presence of spontaneous herbs and a very lively fauna.

Nel 1986 Giorgio Ferrero diventa titolare dell'azienda agricola familiare che da quattro generazioni produce vino a Pino d'Asti, implementa il metodo dell'agricoltura biologica per tutta la sua produzione ed inizia a commercializzare i suoi prodotti con il marchio Ca' del Prete (il nome deriva dalla cascina dove ha sede la cantina, che una volta era connessa all'antica canonica sovrastante).
Dal 2014, dopo l'esperienza maturata in azienda, Luca Ferrero (nipote di Giorgio) ne diventa il titolare.
Luca ha implementato nuove metodologie che vanno dalla vigna alla cantina. Tante delle sue scelte sono nate dallo studio continuo, dalla volontà di mettersi in discussione e dal confronto costante con i colleghi più esperti.
Definisce i suoi vini "artigianali provenienti da uve a coltivazione biologica". Artigianali poiché prodotti senza l'uso (o comunque minimo) di tecnologia, di coadiuvanti chimici e con piccole aggiunte di conservanti soltanto all'imbottigliamento
La superficie vitata è di circa 4 ettari coltivati prevalentemente a Freisa, con appezzamenti di Malvasia (antico vitigno di Schierano) e di Barbera.
Nelle vigne regna il verde: l'inerbimento evita il dilavamento e l'erosione del terreno ed è molto utile per avere temperature più basse nella stagione estiva, garantire la presenza di erbe spontanee ed una vivacissima fauna.
