Valparaiso Vinhos e Vinhedos is a small property located at Barão, city at Southern Brazil, at Serra Gaúcha, most traditional wine-producing region in the country.

The owner and responsible for this project is Arnaldo Argenta, an Agricultural Engineer that has almost 40 years of experience in viticulture, and is the fourth generation of winegrowers in the family. He has a dream to raise a model vineyard, with less intervention as possible.

The project started on 2006 with a lot of hard work to get to the current condition: 7 acres of grapes cultivated in a sustainable philosophy, possible mainly due to our covering protection system, that allow us to produce healthy, pure and ripe grapes. Serra Gaucha Region has a high level of humidity, being almost impossible to produce without the use of chemicals, that is the reason why we need to cover the vineyard, as it reduce dramatically fungal diseases and the need of agrochemicals.  This system also extends the harvest period, allowing the grapes to reach the proper ripening point.

Not only the covering system helps, but also a meticulous handling, green manure and a biodiversity-based ecosystem, with many other cultures coexisting in the property (apples, peaches, plumes, berries, olive trees, persimmons, pomegranates and other native species trees).

Between 45 grapes varieties cultivated, we have nine vitis viniferas: torrontés, moscato alexandria, chardonnay, garganega, rondinella, pinot grigio, sangiovese, pinot noir and nebbiolo.

We consider the grape as the protagonist, so Valparaiso focus is the land. Those sustainable practices and care about the raw material is fundamental to carry a vinification with no intervention.

Our vinification includes only wild yeasts, no filtration, natural clarification (decanting), no barrel aging. The only addition is the sulfur for conservation purposes (before bottling) and we are reducing it along the time, as we confirm the long life of our natural wines. 

Our batches are exclusive, where each tank generates a maximum of 650 to 1.300 bottles, with unique and unrepeatable results. Our anual production is about 30 thousand bottles in an artisanal production.
