Have you tried Extrem 2 by Winzerhof Linder? This bottle is special for many reasons, not only because of its exquisite taste, but also because the winery faced a Plasmopara Viticola attack (a devastating type of mildew) in 2021 and lost almost all of their grapes. They managed to harvest the few grapes that survived and make just 879 bottles. These rare bottles are now being sold to help save their beautiful biodynamic farm.
Extrem 2 is full of energy with a slight tingle that dances on your tongue. It tastes of tart cider apples, clementines, grapefruit, and freshly pressed orange juice -- absolutely delicious. The wine has low tannins, is smooth, and highly drinkable, with clean acidity that you feel from your cheeks to your teeth while remaining well-balanced.
This all-natural, zero-zero wine is made from Pinot Blanc, Gris, Noir, Müller-Thurgau, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Like the label’s multicolored print, this wine is a true mix of everything Winzerhof Linder had to offer in 2021.
Winzerhof Linder practices Probiotik-Agriculture, meaning they work 100% pesticide-free using only microorganisms grown from compost tea, herb fermentations, whey, stone powder, and clay. No copper, sulfur, or anything else touches their farm.
They believe monoculture agriculture caused the 2021 disaster. Previous generations knew that one year you can harvest lots of nuts, the year after potatoes, and the year after apples. But if you only have grapes, you lose this diversity. They are now changing this problem and working with other fruits like apples, pears, plums, honey, pomegranates, and figs, anything they can ferment into alcohol with natural yeasts.
You can help Winzerhof Linder on their journey and get to drink a great bottle in the process. Just head to their website and order a bottle of Extrem 2, you can choose to donate either €50 or €100. Only 700 bottles left, so grab one quickly.
