Romania is a beautiful yet often underrated country to visit. The capital Bucharest is a vibrant, welcoming city, full of culture and history. However, if you wanted to find natural wine in Romania, in the past, even Raisin couldn’t help you. Thankfully though, this is no longer the case!
This past week we’ve added the first two natural wine establishments in Bucharest. Mosto is the first natural wine bar in Romania and Saccharomyces Wines is the first natural wine shop and distributor.
Mosto was founded by Michele and Andrea in October 2022, they felt they were missing a place, in Bucharest, where they could go to eat and drink well, listen to good music, and be in a friendly atmosphere. So they were inspired to create that place for themselves. You’ll find small concerts and art exhibitions as well as artisanal food from local small producers to compliment over 200 different wines which they stock. You’ll find producers from Italy, Romania, France, Slovenia, Germany, Spain, and more. All of which are either natural or at the very least, biodynamic.
At the same time, Saccharomyces Wines is also succeeding in developing the Romanian natural wine scene. This weekend, on Saturday 19th of December, they are throwing their first natural wine event called ‘Natty Wines’. It will include a screening of the documentary ‘Natural Resistance’ by filmmaker Jonathan Nossiter, of course a natural wine tasting, plus vegan food, sourdough bread, music, and guaranteed great vibes.

We are so happy to see the beginning of the natural wine scene flourishing in Romania and can’t wait to watch it expand. Cheers to Mosto and Saccharomyces Wines. Keep up the great work!
