For Frédéric, the love of wine came very early through a Burgundian grandfather who took him as a child to visit the cellars of the great estates. For Salma, it was rather the love of great spice wines, those of the big island where she was born, and whose treasures her brother Yoann imports to Geneva with gusto (Spices & Vanilla). After meeting in China and having traveled all over Asia for years for their professional activity, they settled more than twenty years ago in the Canton of Vaud, where they still work as lawyers. On random weekends, they discovered southern Burgundy, falling in love with Brionnais where they renovated an old agricultural estate, at a place called Le Bois Dieu. This has a few acres of old vines, lost in the middle of vast fattening meadows, rare heirs of a vineyard which had almost 4000 hectares before phylloxera. In this “land of white gold” with an unaltered environment, their meetings with Pierre Overnoy years earlier, a shared passion for wines without artifice which reflect the land from which they come, solid winegrower friendships in Burgundy and in the Loire, and very old Gamay vines (planted in 1936 and 1939) which just want to produce beautiful grapes, all this leads them to take the plunge and make wine without any input, as close as possible to the fruit and as naturally as possible. Without wine training, guided by their taste buds and the advice of their winegrower friends, Salma and Frédéric try to translate, on a very artisanal scale, the incredible beauty of a preserved terroir.
Visits and tastings at the estate are not possible, except for professionals and by appointment.
