Fred Lailler, I was born à Gorges, a land of Muscadet vines. After my BTS vitioeno at Agrave; Montreuil-Bellay and a few years of experience in several fields, I wanted to join. return to the country and stand on my own two feet, eager to put into practice the fruits of these years of training and the convictions that I have formed.
Highlight the terroirs, seek authenticity and authenticity. wines, developing living wines were the basis of my guiding ideas. For this, there were imperatives: conversion to organic agriculture to rediscover the expression and vibrations of the earth, limitation of yields, fermentation with native yeasts, long aging and, ;obviously, manual harvesting. I needed a place with which I could enter into symbiosis, a terroir that I could bring into my bottles.
In 2011, I took over the estate of Michel Brégeon, 8.5 hectares at Gorges. Michel is one of the precursors of high quality Muscadet. and a spearhead in the promotion of Nantais Vineyard wines; one of those who always believed that this wine made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape variety was much better than the image of counter wine that stuck to it; the skin. He got out of it. deep and subtle wines, wines for aging capable of competing with other wines. the blind man with the older ones. In this sense, Michel accompanied me, passed on his knowledge and knowledge of the particularities of his soils.
As I am convinced that a wine is the alchemy of the meeting of a winemaker and a terroir, I had to find the means of my own expression on the estate. It was therefore quite natural that I proceeded to à conversion to organic agriculture, an agriculture of progress for present well-being, for future well-being linked to the past. This conversion will be effective on the entirety of your account. of the domain in 2019 with part in 2018.
« The difference is the stone» The vineyard is located in the communes of Gorges (village appellation) on gabbro soil and Maisdon s/Sèvre (Clisson village appellation) on granite soil. 80% of the vines are mass selection, the average age of the vines is 65 years, the oldest have exceeded 65 years. the century. Density is 7000 feet to per hectare, average yields are less than 30 hl/ha. The particularity of of these terroirs and these vines allow me to extract the minerality of these terroirs and vines. and complexity juices which are distinguished from each other by their specificity. soils (« the pebble») of gabbro and granite and various solar exposures. This richness allows me to draw out the quintessence of the Melon de Bourgogne grape variety.
My respect for the earth and its fruits: I consider that it is necessary to accompany the juices giving a different wine to the wine. every vintage and always a living wine. I make the expression of a famous Loire Valley winegrower my own “ The cellar must be a maternity ward. and not a place of transformation ».
An emotion: For me, wine is made first and foremost. Vine. I have great respect for the earth and its fruits. I would like to transmit, to through my wines, the music of a place and the emotion that I feel at times of plowing and pruning, moments of promise of a great wine, moments of symbiosis and rejuvenation especially when Kerline, my mare, helps me work a few acres. Every year, it’s a fresh start. You have to deal with the palette that nature offers. I have the privilege of practicing a profession close to the arts - painting and poetry - and I want my wines to be an expression of this.
