I am a winegrower in Tautavel (Pyrénées-Orientales) and my estate is called Les petits Fagots.
After 15 years spent between Archeology studies, prehistoric excavations (in the Tautavel cave in particular) and work in National Education, I decided in 2017 to embark on a career change and the world of wine.
My experience of viticulture was then limited to the harvest and the opening of a few bottles, I decided to start from scratch and resume my studies (CQP, BPREA) at the LPA in Rivesaltes. I took the time to observe and discover different areas and types of winemaking, which led me to meet natural winegrowers who guided me and gave me various avenues for reflection on my future profession. .
At the end of 2020, I bought 3ha of vines in Tautavel. While selling a little grapes on the vine, I was given the opportunity to make a first vintage thanks to the hospitality and wise advice of Jessica Albero and Laurent Pujol (Recerca estate): Les petits Fagots have just seen the light of day .
Enthusiastic by this experience, I found a cellar in the town of Paziols, and after several months of work and a few additional hectares obtained in rent, 5 new vintages were vinified (iSOTOPiK, MADAME TERRIBLE, Sursum Corda, etc.). Following the manual harvest, work in the cellar is carried out without inputs (I nevertheless use a little less than 1g/hl of SO2 one month before bottling for wines requiring it). The wines are neither fined nor filtered.
The 8 grape varieties present on the estate (including Grenache Gris, Carignan, Maccabeu, Lledoner Pelut) are all entirely worked by hand. The soil is not plowed but just cleared, and all the necessary inputs to the vines are made from the air (manure, foliar fertilizer, etc.). This winter, a first trial of grazing by sheep on certain plots was launched.
The first plots that I acquired will be certified organic this year, the others are in conversion (Ecocert).
The estate, mainly on clay-limestone terroir, today produces around 6,000 bottles.
